Connect Sydney 2023

For our return to APAC, we remained in Sydney but moved to a larger venue, the Hyatt Regency. It is a fantastic venue with a good amount of divisible meeting space and windows along one side with views of Darling Harbor.

This set-up featured an LED wall stage backdrop with two flanking 20K projection screens. I created the slide content for the center wall and converted it to video for a walk-in loop.

One notable lesson for this venue – make sure to add drape if you want a clean look. There are louvers that close to keep out light, but they are not too effective and they are outside the glass windows. This creates glare and reflection from stage lights in the room.

Here I was monitoring the live stream of the keynote session. We ran redundant streams on Cloudflare’s own streaming platform with a YouTube backup.

One of the larger breakout rooms.

A small breakout room with LCD lectern.

The highlight of this trip. The FIFA Women’s World Cup Final! It was a disappointing England loss – most of the crowd obviously wanted them to win. We left before the infamous kiss during the closing ceremony – we were in line for the train back into town.
